Nature and Scope of the Collection of Personal Data

Personal data, as defined in this Privacy Policy, refers to specific information about the personal or factual circumstances of an identified or identifiable natural person. Data Transfer to Third Countries

If personal data is transferred to countries outside the European Union (in particular the United States), this is done exclusively in compliance with Articles 44 et seq. of the GDPR (e.g., standard contractual clauses, adequacy decisions). For data transfers to the United States, an adequacy decision by the European Commission (EU–US Data Privacy Framework) may also apply, provided that the respective provider is certified accordingly.

Use of Cookies and Targeting

To make your visit to our website more enjoyable and to enable you to use certain features, we use so-called “cookies” on some pages of our website. These are small text files that are stored on your device and record certain settings and data for exchange with our system via your browser.

A cookie typically contains the name of the domain from which the cookie data was sent, as well as information about the cookie’s age and an alphanumeric identifier. Cookies enable our systems to recognize the user’s device and make any preset preferences immediately available. As soon as a user accesses the platform, a cookie is sent to the hard drive of that user’s computer. Cookies help us improve our website and offer you a better, more personalized service. They allow us to recognize your computer when you return to our website, thereby:

  • To store information about your preferred activities on the website and thereby tailor our website to your individual interests.
  • To speed up the processing of your inquiries.

The cookies we use store only the data described above regarding your use of the website. This is not done by linking the data to you personally, but rather by assigning an identification number to the cookie (“cookie ID”). The cookie ID is not linked to your name, your IP address, or any similar data that would allow the cookie to be associated with you.

Our website uses retargeting and marketing technologies exclusively after obtaining prior explicit consent in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR in conjunction with Section 25 of the TDDDG. No processing takes place without consent.
We use these technologies to target Internet users who have already shown an interest in our website with advertisements on our partners’ websites.

These advertisements are displayed on our partners’ websites based on cookie technology and an analysis of previous usage behavior. This analysis is conducted using a pseudonym, and no usage profiles are linked to your personal data. You can manage and revoke your consent exclusively through the cookie consent tool used on the site.

If you do not wish to use browser cookies, you can configure your browser to prevent cookies from being stored. Please note that, in this case, you may only be able to use our website to a limited extent, or not at all.

Data Security

All information you provide to us is stored on servers located within the European Union. The data from our website is hosted on servers we operate ourselves in Frankfurt am Main.

Transmitting information over the Internet is not secure, which is why we cannot guarantee the security of data submitted to our website. However, we protect our website and other systems through technical and organizational measures against the loss, destruction, unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure of your data by unauthorized persons.

Web analytics services

This website uses Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by
Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

Use of this service is based solely on your consent in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR in conjunction with Section 25 of the TDDDG. You may revoke your consent at any time with future effect via our cookie consent tool.

Google Analytics 4 uses cookies and similar technologies to collect and analyze information about the use of our website. Among other things, the following data is processed:

  • IP address (in abbreviated form)
  • Usage behavior (e.g., page views, time spent on the site)
  • Device type, operating system, browser type
  • Source (Referrer URL)

The IP address is truncated within the European Union or the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transmitted to Google servers in the United States, where it is truncated.

On behalf of the website operator, Google processes this information to analyze the use of the website, compile reports on website activity, and provide other services related to website usage.

It cannot be ruled out that data may be transferred to Google LLC servers in the United States. For data transfers to the United States, Google relies on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and—where applicable—the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

We have entered into a data processing agreement with Google in accordance with Article 28 of the GDPR.

The data collected via Google Analytics is retained for 2 months.

You can prevent cookies from being stored by adjusting your browser settings accordingly, or you can withdraw your consent at any time using our consent tool.

Plugins

The social media plugins and video services described below are loaded only after you have given your prior, explicit consent via our cookie consent tool. No data is transferred to the respective providers without your consent.

YouTube

This website uses plugins from Youtube.de/Youtube.com, which—represented by Google Ireland Limited—is operated by YouTube, LLC, Cherry Ave., USA. When you visit pages on our website that contain such a plugin, a connection is established to the YouTube servers, and the plugin is displayed on the webpage via a notification sent to your browser. This transmits information to the YouTube server regarding which of our web pages you have visited. If you are logged in to YouTube as a member, YouTube associates this information with your respective personal user account on that platform. When you use these plugins—such as by clicking a video’s play button or submitting a comment—this information is associated with your YouTube user account, for example. You can prevent this only by logging out before using the plugin. Information regarding the collection and use of data by the platform or plugins can be found in the privacy policy: https://www.google.de/intl/de/policies/privacy/

Instagram

Our website uses so-called social plugins (“plugins”) from the Instagram service. For users in the European Union, the provider is Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, Merrion Road, Dublin 4, Ireland. The plugins are marked with an Instagram logo, such as an “Instagram camera.”

When you visit a page on our website, your browser establishes a direct connection to Instagram’s servers. The content of the plugin is transmitted directly from Instagram to your browser and integrated into the page. Through this integration, Instagram receives the information that your browser has accessed the corresponding page on our website, even if you do not have an Instagram profile or are not currently logged in to Instagram. This information (including your IP address) is transmitted directly from your browser to an Instagram server in the United States and stored there. If you are logged in to Instagram, Instagram can directly associate your visit to our website with your Instagram account. If you interact with the plugins—for example, by clicking the “Instagram” button—this information is also transmitted directly to an Instagram server and stored there. The information is also published on your Instagram account and displayed there to your contacts. For information on the purpose and scope of data collection, as well as the further processing and use of the data by Instagram, and your related rights and privacy settings, please refer to Instagram’s privacy policy: https://help.instagram.com/155833707900388/

If you do not want Instagram to directly associate the data collected through our website with your Instagram account, you must log out of Instagram before visiting our website. You can also completely prevent the Instagram plugins from loading by using browser add-ons, such as the script blocker “NoScript” (http://noscript.net/).

Facebook

Our website incorporates plugins from the social network Facebook (Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, Merrion Road, Dublin 4, Ireland). You can recognize the Facebook plugins by the Facebook logo or the “Like” button on our site. You can find an overview of the Facebook plugins here: http://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/.

When you visit one of our pages that contains such a plugin, your browser establishes a direct connection to Facebook’s servers. The plugin’s content is transmitted directly from Facebook to your browser and integrated into the website by your browser. This informs Facebook that you have accessed the corresponding page on our website. If you are logged into Facebook, Facebook can associate your visit with your Facebook account. If you interact with the plugins—for example, by clicking the “Like” button or posting a comment—the corresponding information is transmitted directly from your browser to Facebook and stored there.

Since this transfer is direct, we have no knowledge of the data being transmitted. For information regarding the purpose and scope of data collection by Facebook, the further processing and use of the data by Facebook, as well as your rights and privacy settings in this regard, please refer to Facebook’s Privacy Policy at http://de-de.facebook.com/privacy/explanation.php.

reCaptcha

We use the Google service reCaptcha to determine whether a human or a computer is entering information into our contact or newsletter form. Google uses the following data to verify whether you are a human or a computer: the IP address of the device you are using, the webpage you are visiting on our site where the reCAPTCHA is embedded, the date and duration of your visit, identification data regarding the type of browser and operating system you are using, your Google Account (if you are signed in to Google), mouse movements on the reCAPTCHA fields, and tasks requiring you to identify images. The legal basis for the data processing described is Article 6(1)(f) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We have a legitimate interest in this data processing to ensure the security of our website and to protect ourselves against automated input (attacks). This may involve the transfer of personal data to servers operated by Google LLC in the United States. The transfer is based on Articles 44 et seq. of the GDPR.

Your Rights and Contact Information

You have the right at any time, upon request and free of charge, to receive information about the personal data stored regarding you, its origin and recipients, as well as the purpose of its storage. In addition, in accordance with statutory provisions, you have the right to rectification, data portability, restriction of processing, blocking, withdrawal of consent, and erasure of this personal data. You also have the right to file a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular with the authority responsible for your place of residence or our company’s registered office.
